HOLT ANNOUNCES NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE
ARTS RECOVERY GRANTS FOR CENTRAL NEW JERSEY

(Washington, DC) - Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today announced that three organizations from New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District will receive the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Recovery Grants. Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, for which Holt voted, the NEA received $50 million to preserve jobs in art disciplines threatened by the struggling economy.

“We must remember that our business and financial sectors are not the only ones threatened by the current economic troubles,” Holt said. “With the sharp decline in philanthropic support, our arts community also has been hurt. The arts play a crucial role by enhancing our creativity and promoting critical aspects of education. These grants are just another way that the economic recovery bill is helping rebuild communities throughout Central New Jersey.”

Created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, these competitive grants will provide the funding necessary to retain jobs in the non-profit arts sector and help preserve the nation’s artistic culture. The 2009 Recovery Grant winners from New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District can be found below.
